June 2013 Ipsy

June "On the wild side"

This months bag is a leopard print bag with neon yellow zipper trim. With 5 full size products, its totally worth the money (of $10).  Pick one up for yourself here.

J.cat False Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue.  Full size box with one set of EL79 Lashes a very full and dramatic lash plus a small tube of lash glue.  A valvue of $3.99 coupon code is LOVEIPSY for 25% off at jcatbeauty.com   I have been wanting to try some false lashes.  I have never worn them before because my eyelashes are pretty long already but I'd like try them for some fullness.  Even tho these are a little to full they will be nice to try.  You never know I might end up loving them

J.cat sparkling cream palette in the color Volta. Full size at a cost of $4.49 coupon code is LOVEIPSY for 25% off at jcatbeauty.com.   This is the only item out of the whole bag that I dislike.  The glitter is huge and it's not recommended for use on eyes, which for me doesn't make since to have unless your a costume makeup artist.  When swatching the glitter comes of the palette with no cream color just the lose glitter. I will not be using this item.

Cailyn Linefix gel eyeliner in the color Iron. Full size at a cost of $21.00 the coupon code is ipsy30 to receive 30% off at cailyncosmetics.com   Lucky me this is another make up item that I've been die-ing to try but didn't know where to start.  This gel liner is very cute it comes with a built in brush.

Nyx Mosaic Powder in the color Dare. Full size at the cost of $7.00 coupon code is IPSY15 for 15% off or IPSYCHEEKS for 40% off Tango with bronzing powder at nyxcosmetics.com   This blush is considered a rose gold color and is very pigmented, I used it once so far at it was kind of scary, lol.

Starlooks lip pencil in the color Tickle Me Pink.  Full size at the cost of $12.00 coupon code is IPSY for 35% off starlooks.com.  It is very creamy but the color is to bright for me.  My lips are naturally a little darker then most and this color is just not flattering at all.  I might try it a couple more times before I give it away.

(Swatches left Starlooks Tickle Me Pink and right Cailyn in the color Iron)

          Box total is $48.48

Blu from Zoya

This is Zoya in the color Blu. I received this from May's Ipsy bag (find it here) and my first ever Zoya polish, yay!  Its a pastel blue that goes on chalky and hard to manage.  I really thought this was going to end up lumpy and matte but the finish came out pretty nice.  This is two coat with no top coat and if it hadn't been so hard to work with I probably could have gotten away with one.   I am very pleased with the finish look.  And am seriously considering another color, just a bit put off by the texture when wet.

Kiss and imPRESS Nail art

I received these two items for participating in the brand challenge from the Holiday Voxbox by Influenster.  The Kiss brand nail dress in the color Camisole ($5.97).  There are 28 nail art stickers in black and white zebra print.  This one will be fun to use for an accent nail.
I also received the press-on manicure set in the short length from imPRESS in the color Kiss and Tell ($4.97).  Easy to apply peel off, press on firmly and smooth down each side.  With 24 nail cover you can use this set twice.  I'm excited to use these products and will post nail shots as soon as I can.  A special thanks to the Kiss brand and Influenster for the amazing products.

I received all products for testing and reviewing purposes from Influenster.

June 2013 Birchbox Wanderlust

Here is the new look of the Birchbox boxes.  Booo!

I loved the cute pink letters and I loved the old logo.  Now I do understand what Birchbox is trying to do by saying that they provide more then just women's beauty products.  They have expanded to carry men's products and house hold items.  And I'm sure that the idea to extend the new look to include new boxes, was so that they only have to produce one box for all subscriptions (both women's and men's) services.  But I like my pink girly boxes and now I just get a boring old box like the men, I say again booo!

 June 2013 Birchbox
Wanderlust (Theme)

My box had five sample if you can call them that.  I have been very disappointed in my boxes for the last 3 months.  Each box has had one item that kind of saved the box for me, otherwise I would have canceled.  There has been allot of smaller that normal sample sizes lately, plus some of those samples have being less then half full.

These "samples" are made in this package as a post card mailer (seen on the backside not shown).

The samples are pill pack form and smaller then a penny!  With it including a cream cleanser that in my opinion is to small to clean your face with.  Also a serum extract stated to be a 2 in 1 day time moisturizer, a eye emulsion with anti-wrinkle and anti-oxidant; and a night moisturizer.

The bottle is cute and as far as lotion goes it a nice sample but I don't like the smell that is mostly a musk smell not so much grapefruit.  And the fell is very very light, after two minutes it feels like it has done nothing for your skin.  1.5 fl. oz.
This is kind of funny I read the card from Birchbox and it reads "from Italy", then I was reading the bottle and it says "Made in USA Indianapolis, IN" So which is it? lol.

Of course I would get this one seeing as I just bought a full size heat protectent, lol (found here).  But I have heard good things about this so, we will see.  Approximately 1 fl. oz.

Even tho this is only a half size polish this is the only thing that I love, this color is just what I've been looking for a neon coral.  Perfect for summer.  Hopefully it will look just as good outside the bottle and not take 5 coats.  I will post swatch ASAP. 0.25 fl. oz.

Lifestyle Extra

I would have rather get only four "samples" in this box then receive gum!  This is getting ridiculousness from head bands that don't work, nail file that don't work, tea that I wont drink, men's cologne and a PEN!  They are bring the whole box down by putting something so ridiculous in it.  Please Birchbox  fill this space with cute things or nothing at all.

Box Total $12.70

You have got to be kidding me!  On top of the very low box total, I think allot of it is over priced.  Like the individual nail polish is worth $2, yeah right! The teeny tiny samples from 29 is worth $4.51 and the GUM... (wait for it) a whopping .25c.  At that cost why didn't they just put a whole pack of gum?  Not that, that would change my mind about getting gum in my box but it might have for some people.

Tell me what you think?  Was your box this bad? Are you done with Birchbox?
Thanks for reading. XoXo

Review on TRESemme's NEW Platinum Strength series

I picked TRESemme Platinum Strength Heat Protect Spray and the Deep Conditioning Treatment about two months ago after see a review and recommendation from Tracy and Stef from EleventhGorgoues.
The deep conditioner claims to repair up to 2 years of damage and can be as often as needed.  Instructions say "Apply generous amount, leave on for 3-4 minutes and rinse."  This one was the first thing I used and was very exited to try.  I have very long color-treated curly hair, its about 6 inch from my waist line.  So I'm use to having to use allot of product but with this deep treatment I had to use about 1/3 of the bottle to cover all of my hair.  That's allot even for me and I have tried allot of deep conditioners.  On top of using up almost half of the product in the first day, it did NOTHING for my hair!  I will go back to using my Wen and Palmers coconut oil formula, deep conditioning pack since I have had great result with both of these.  And will not repurchase the TRESemme Platinum Strength Deep conditioning treatment.
As for the heat protect spray, I have never used just a spray .  I usually would use a curl serum that has a heat protectant in it.  But  now that I have been try out allot of new hair products, I find that I don't always have one that includes a heat protectant. So picking up one was obvious.  I do allot of blow drying, flat ironing and I use an Instyler.  It has a nice smell, sprays evenly and is not heavy on my hair.  I have noticed my hair is tamer (less breakage and/or frizz) after using this with a blow dryer.
So in the end yes to the Heat Protect and no to the deep conditioner.  Also available in the series is a matching shampoo and condition.  Thank you for reading XoXo.

Bam-Blue-Zled from Ulta, nail polish

This is a new polish I picked up with my Ulta reward points.  I didn't have that many this time so I just got this polish and so cotton rounds to use with my toner.  This is that Ulta store brand in the color Bam-blue-zled.  This kind of a periwinkle color, showing more grey in picture. Sorry.  Three coats to opaque and yes my top nail is a hot mess!  I really like the formula of the Ulta polishes I have three know and they last a while, although this one could have shinned more.  But That nothing a good top coat wont fix.  So thanks for reading as always XoXo.

And if you have a favorite color from Ulta, please let me know what to get next.

Review Boots Toner & Bioderma Dupe

Boots expert sensitive gentle refreshing toner

This is my everyday toner for sensitive skin and I love it.  You use it after cleaning your face to get of any left over makeup and it gives you a nice refreshing feel.  Directions read, Apply with cotton wool to freshly cleansed skin before moisturizing.  It is also considered a dupe for Bioderma a very popular brand of toner in France and not readily available here in the US.  It can be found at Target for around $4 and also comes in a blemish formula.  It comes in a 6.7 fl. oz. bottle.  I defiantly recommend this product and I will be repurchasing.
Thanks for reading XoXo.

Review on Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo

I have been trying out a new product for about two months from Olay Regenerist.  Its the Advanced anti-aging Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo, one end has eye cream that hydrates to firm eye area, reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles and smooths the look of lids, while the other end has a lash wand and serum that instantly thickens the appearance of lashes and hydrates to nourish lashes base to tip.
I have seen a little bit of lift in my lids and the cream is very nice.  Its a perfect medium weight cream with no smell and a little goes a long way so don't be put off by the size of the tube of cream.   The directions read, massage a small amount of eye cream under eye, on eyelid, and around the crows' feet until thoroughly absorbed. Use twice daily morning and evening.  I have to admit that I am horrible when it comes to a regular routine, I find myself surrounded my new products and samples so I kind of bounce around trying everything.  (I'm working on that Lol)
The lash serum is a clear gel in a mascara like tube and wand. It does have a faint smell but its not unpleasant and you can not even smell it once applied.  There are no directions of the serum but you apply it just as you would a mascara.  By working the wand from the base of your lashes and wiggle all the way throw to the tips.  Apply on both upper and lower lashes both morning and night.  My lashes are already long and full so its hard for me to see a real difference but I would defiantly say they look allot healthier.
This product is a great combo idea where you can keep them together in a 2 in 1 system.  I would defiantly recommend this product to anyone that is concerned with sagging eyelids, wrinkles and expectantly brittle and short eyelashes.  I have recently seen this eye duo system available in Walmart, Target, CVS and Ulta for around $22.  Which to me personal is a little high for a drug store product but I think that Olay is really trying to step up the formulas to be comparable to the higher-end products.
If you have any questions about this product please feel free to ask, and I will do my best to answer them for you.  Thank for reading XoXo.

I received this product commentary for testing and reviewing purposes from Vocalpoint.

Whimsical Nail polish from Revlon

Revlon nail polish in the color Whimsical

I got this polish at my local Kroger store which is remodeling to be a Super Kroger.  So a bunch of there stuff was discounted to make sure they could get it all in its new place.  Well this nail polish was one such item, lucky me!   I have been eyeing this polish since it came out but I never broke down and bought it because I don't usually go for glitters.  So I have just admiring it from afar.  I found it for $1.89 which is a good deal compared to the normal price of $3.74.  This swatch included a base coat and four coats for the Whimsical polish which is quite allot.  But it looks beautiful I even have planes to put it over one of my new blue polishes (coming soon).  It was kind of a pain to take off but all glitters are.  But no worries I have a trick for that... see it here.
And Thanks for reading XoXo.
